You know, I’m just a random geek that gets most of his knowledge of such things from fiction but… I thought the device was creating a portal to alternate realities… not actually creating them. Or at least, if it was technically creating them by Claw reaching into an alternate “past” to grab a gold bar essentially from himself, the portal closing shouldn’t destroy the parallel.
Someone else want to explain this too me? XD

…I really wish the comments section had an “edit” button: I can’t seem to post here without massive typos. @_@

I suspect Hi-Tech may have gotten it wrong here. But since Claw stole the device instead of inventing the thing it’s possible that he doesn’t have the necessary technical background to disagree with confidence and is inclined to trust Hi-Tech’s judgement when it comes to matters of this sort. If I were him I’d try to verify this real quick. >_>

OK, went back and reread the initial description: “It’s a time portal that generates a parallel universe that resets itself once every minute.”. You and I both assume that the noun influenced by the verb “resets” is “portal” while Hi-Tech is assuming that “universe” represents the noun being influenced by that verb. And since I doubt Claw’s foes would write a User Manual on his behalf it’s possible that he has no real way of being sure either. Only one ethical thing to do. Time to kidnap the inventor and find out for sure! ^_^

Cut to line while Claw is still talking: “I’m a supervillain, not a monster!”

And this is why no one likes Hi-Tech.

Eh, with great power comes great responsibility. *Somebody* has to think of details likes this if you don’t want unintended tragedies to happen. OTOH, it does occur to me to ask 2 further questions:
1. Even if Hi Tech’s interpretation is correct does the other universe necessarily operate at the same time scale that ours does? If a minute for us is Big Bang to Heat Death of the Universe to them with everything in between happily living out it’s natural life span then I would argue no biggie. In that case it’s not so much a matter of killing people since nothing bad is actually happening to them as having given them Life in the first place.
2. If his interpretation is correct and things are as heinous as he currently thinks they are then why was a device of this sort lying around in a superhero HQ to begin with? They’re the ones who built it in the first place. I don’t recall the JLA or anyone else worth respecting in the Silver Age ever being so sloppy that they wouldn’t have immediately disassembled it or trashed it upon realizing what it was. Truthfully, I can’t picture even Marvel superheroes being as sloppy and thoughtless enough for that. (*Ahem*. Please pardon the display of my Silver Age DC fanboy tendencies! *^_^*).

Would the pocket universe only generate a pocket? Why would one assume there was more to the universe than a room with a gold-bar-holding table in it?
And I don’t know how it skipped my mind, but on Monday I posted my ‘Supervillainous’ review and interview with Zappit himself!

He can ruin Christmas by saying it was made by gay ass-fucking Greek pagans.

Except it wasn’t.
Now odds are the previous comment is pure trolling and most people that care to know how the modern celebration of Christmas came to be have already looked into it. Still if someone does need to know, they just have to ask and I’ll go research it again and share.

…doesnt’ Hi-tech remember they’re villains? They don’t have to give a damn, it’s both a job requirement, and a perk!
