I got a little stack of fanscripts, and I did let a few people know if theirs will be used. I am considering adding a day or two more to the Fan Week – weekend strips are a real possibility here.
And for those people apprehensive about the new Chad – hang in there, folks. I think you’ll actually like what’s in store in the coming weeks.

Oh dear! It’s always the little details like this one, isn’t it? O_O
Let’s hope that something can be done before the people around Chad start developing green skin, using their name instead of personal pronouns and saying things like “Name will smash!”. ^_~

I don’t get the potassium comment. Also I like the newspaper doesn’t need cartoonists bit. Hilarious.

High doses of potassium is one of the treatments to help combat radiation poisoning. Not necessarily the most effective method, but it does get used.

Potassium only helps with one of the potential cancer threats from radiation poisoning- thyroid, I think?

I think you’re thinking of , which can reduce the risk of thyroid cancer for people exposed to radioactive materials. It’s the iodide that provides the protection. Radioactive isotopes of iodine are common in bomb fallout and nuclear power accidents. The thyroid gland absorbs iodine, so flooding the system with non-radioactive iodine makes it less likely to absorb radioactive iodine. It’s fairly effective; liberal use of potassium iodide tablets in the areas affected by the Chernobyl disaster almost certainly contributed to lower cancer rates. (Lots of people still got cancer, but not as many as otherwise would have been expected.)

And, I failed to close the tag. Yet somehow, the link still works… mostly.
It was supposed to say potassium iodide.

Nice. I do have to wonder though… I almost wonder if it would be funnier if Claw had phrased his line so that having another superhuman henchman was also cool with Claw so that it was just the radiation that bothered him.
Yeah, total nitpick. Good gag. 🙂

I love how practical Claw is. Turned yourself into a bizarre purple supermutant? No problem. Potentially radioactive supermutant? Problem.
Also, the newsletter joke in the background made me chuckle. 🙂

I just got caught up on the archives. Again. Man, Zap, you keep delivering the goods time after time. And it can be weird!
Dammit, I missed out on the script contest though. Maybe next time.
