So uh…I guess you guys didn’t like the little Captain Pike parody joke earlier this week, huh?
I suppose I went a little too dark that time.
Ah, well. Have a new comic.

I love the Captain Pike joke. I get it’s a little dark, but I’ve seen darker.

I agree!
I also agree that it was rather dark; but, NO one was targeted by nor hurt by that joke. Everyone involved is a fictional character and totally does not exist. It was strictly intended as fun.

It was good but I think it may have been way over the head of some of the younger readers who don’t know about that episode

I can get over random murder and property damage, but The Claw doing something like that would require restitution. If your comic was that dark all the time, it would have been funny, but we’re supposed to like The Claw. That’s a little too far; he needs to fix the problem or suffer karmic balance.

Just so! Although the comic’s had a few dark moments, the Pike joke was sufficiently out of character for the usual tone that it just catches me off guard and comes off as sadism rather than comedy. Not that suffering is my style of humor anyway, I might be less inclined than some to cut it some slack.
And just because a Star Trek reference is always awesome doesn’t make me like the rest of it any better. Even if that woman won the lottery she wouldn’t be able to enjoy it at this point.
