Hugs!

So last week, the hundredth Supervillainous strip went up, and I felt a bit of pride knowing that I accomplished something I’d never done before. I even asked for a “performance review” of the comic from you good folks, and I got some pretty good feedback. I felt good – great, in fact – as a tiny hint of self-esteem bubbled to the surface.

And that ended tonight. This is comic 101.

101.
01.
1.

One hundred and one. It feels like I’m starting over. I know I’m not, and it’s not rational for me to look at it as square one, but there it is. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. I was extremely enthusiastic about the comic when I first started, and while that hasn’t gone away, I’m not so manic about it. This time around, starting from one feels comfortable. Honestly, I put in a tremendous amount of energy to get the first fifteen strips finished in order to make the Spiderforest Webcomics Collective application deadline. (It worked out, if you hadn’t noticed.) I just don’t think I could balance a full time job with the vacation-assisted comic workload I put on myself back then. Which brings me to…

The biggest request was for more frequent updates. I’d love to be able to do that, but I have a hard enough time building a buffer, and what I’m doing now just works for me. I don’t want to disappoint, but I don’t want the quality to slip, especially since there’s a real difference between that first strip and where Supervillainous is right now. It leaves room for growth.

Anyway, enjoy the week, and here’s to the next hundred!
