I can think of a certain pink cat that would fit in perfectly with that hamster. You can find it over at Something Positive. I hope I remembered my HTML correctly for that, as I doubt I can edit these comments, and it’s been a few years since I did any HTML.

The boneless cats are crossover characters for both those webcomics. Their authors are friends.

Guinea Pigs were once so commonly used for scientific experiments that their name has become synonymous with “test subject”.
Now we use mice, because they’re dirt cheap, can be mass-bred and mutated to taste, and they’re the only mammal not protected by animal cruelty laws.
They’re also kind of shit test subjects for any medicine or procedure expected to be used on humans. Anything that works successfully on mice has like an 80% chance of not working at all on humans.
I think the Guinea Pigs were actually better test subjects, being at least a small order of magnitude closer to us in mass and metabolism.
Apes and other higher order primates are obviously the most ideal which would produce the most usable scientific data short of directly experimenting on humans. We think they’re too cute to give cancer just to try and cure it though.
Honestly, I don’t think I’d bat an eye if we went back to using Guinea Pigs. They’re a bit cute, but they’re still just big rodents. Think of them as a fat rat.
