He’s probably sick of those water shoes, too.

There’s nothing like bonding at the expense of others, especially when they deserve it. 😀 Also, between the muscles and the swimsuit, The Claw looks kind of hot in the second panel, and that’s coming from a guy.

Walter I would not be fucking with a man who looks like he was carved from a solid block of marble.

They do realize that once he leaves the group, he will probably blow it up with his hover base right? No? Idiots.

Actually, if that is the case then Walter’s just accepted this and is like “He’s going to at least try to seriously injure us if not outright kill us once this is over… I’m going to at least vent a little before he does, while I have the opportunity.”
I think the important thing to remember is that “Judgment Free Zones” are a lie. “Keeping Your Judgment To Yourself Unless You Feel Your Personal Safety, Property Or Somethings Similarly Precious Is At Risk” is a bit wordy, though. In some ways, I can understand where Walter and Vanessa are coming from… again especially if circumstances are such that “Claw blows everything up in the end” is – if not the smart move on his part – at least a real possibility. Plus given we already saw Claw stealing the therapist’s french fries, what are the odds that Claw wouldn’t already have been such a huge jerk that even without the “super villain” angle, some of this is deserved? 😉
So short version: I find the joke funny but if I feel like going deeper, I can understand both sides of this and that’s actually a good thing. 🙂

You’re goin’ DOWN, Walter.

So does anyone think this sheds a bit more light on Diane? Perhaps it isn’t being a super-villain’s wife that she can’t handle, but just some specifics of what happened? Not trying to force this to a “neat” conclusion or anything: on the contrary it just sort of makes sense that Claw and she are more similar than we might think at first, given the situation. Given what he said in this strip:
http://supervillainous.spiderforest.com/?comic=the-evils-of-alcohol
didn’t become a super villain until after he and Diane were married… but maybe they already had the right personalities to go down this route. I could see a lot of mileage come from “Diane actually is fine with this life, just certain aspects of it really bother her: let’s have fun seeing Claw trying to navigate this!”. Heh, to give an idea, say a situation like this one happens again:
http://supervillainous.spiderforest.com/?comic=the-better-man
if what I am suggesting is at least in the ballpark, a similar event could highlight Diane having a problem with it OR Diane being fine because it isn’t Claw personally beating a guy to a pulp in front of him. “Oh, he was a jerk and had it coming; I am just glad you let Meat take care of it without me having to see it.”

I agree. I see Diane as the kind of lass to hang off of a gansters arm. She knew how he provided for her. She turned a blind eye cause she knew he cared about her and she was well cared for. Like the stereotype she is fine with reaping the benefits of the life, she just doesn’t want to deal with the darker side of it. As she put it “The schemes, the weirdness, the violence.” Not super-villain kinda gal herself, but okay with letting her hubby do it so long as work doesn’t follow him home too often.

Well, at least the claw obeys his own morals…

Diane rocks. So does their relationship. Therapy never worked for me either. Not knocking it – works for some. Just annoying for me -.-‘
