I’ve been sitting on Phosphurious (pronounced phos-fury-ous) for years now, just waiting for an excuse to use him. Well. Here. We. Are.

Gotta ask Zappit, Is Dr. Eva Lucien referencing previous Super-Soldier programs for this project? Will mention of them be made?
By Zappit Fri May 19th 2017 at 10:36 am
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Dr. Eva Lucien…. Doctor EvaLucien… Doctor Evolution…
By Gianluca Burdon Fri May 19th 2017 at 8:01 am
Huh, smart observation. Though I guess this means that her work has as many holes in it as the Theory
By wright1 Fri May 19th 2017 at 5:31 pm
That would mean that her work is the best-attested and accurate in her field, considering that evolution is one of the best-evidenced theories in modern science.
By Towering Barbarian Fri May 19th 2017 at 8:35 pm
…At least according to her own press releases! ^o^
By Bracey Fri May 19th 2017 at 11:51 pm
You may want to watch some of these vids on evolution. Its nowhere near as airtight as you might think.

By Rostale Sat May 20th 2017 at 4:15 pm
It’s true the theory of evolution has some holes in it, it’s a side effect of actually having to verify your theories instead of just making it up as you go along. Science deals with real world, and in the real world things get messy. But the upside is once all the pieces come together, the result is something solid and consistent. All scientists can agree on the basic principles of gravity, whereas Christians can’t even cometogether and agree on the basics even of something as fundamental to their beliefs as salvation.
By wright1 Sat May 20th 2017 at 6:15 pm
No offense, but a Youtube search doesn’t come close to matching more than a century’s worth of accumulating evidence across multiple fields of science and peer-reviewed research. No serious competition to the ToE currently exists. No other theory can best tie together what we have discovered in taxonomy, paleontology and genetics, to name just three key areas.
If there was, it would be of immense interest to scientists and researchers worldwide. Just as the ToE has led to advances in medicine and agriculture, any theory that could do a *better* job of explaining and predicting discoveries in the biological sciences would offer even better advances and couldn’t be ignored or suppressed.
Yet we don’t see any competing theory that can do that. Instead, objections to the ToE come almost exclusively from religious fundamentalists, who cannot offer anything of substance to their nay-saying.
It is not enough to say the ToE isn’t airtight; no area or theory in science ever is. Until the critics of evolution have something that can stand at least the same level of scrutiny and testing, there is simply no reason to take them seriously.
By Towering Barbarian Sat May 20th 2017 at 10:36 pm
@ Rostale,
“All scientists can agree on the basic principles of gravity,…”
With all due respect, you may want to talk to some astrophysicists before you say that. Don’t be surprised if they laugh.
@ A Wright,
“No serious competition to the ToE currently exists”
But if that were entirely true would you and Rostale have reacted as strongly as you did to the mere observation that the theory of evolution has holes in it when such an observation is accurate? o_O There is hardly any scientific advancement in trying to disparage an observation that happens to be true. Such advancement is more likely to come from exploring those holes rather than trying to sweep them under the rug. @_@
By AceOfSpade Sun May 21st 2017 at 1:47 am
@Towering Barbarian: I think they were reacting to the implication that because the theory has a few holes it’s not solid and should be discarded. They’re not trying to sweep them under the rug, both of them admitted that the holes exist.
My guess is that they’re tired of people merely pointing out the holes instead of coming up with a more solid theory. It’s a bit like looking a someone building a wall and pointing out a an area that need improvement. The first time the builder will probably be thankful and try to fix it, or to improve so that the next wall he builds doesn’t have that flaw. However if you just keep on pointing out that flaw as the builder is actively trying to come up with more efficient ways of building a wall to avoid that same flaw don’t be surprised if he get annoyed and ask you to try to come up with a better wall.
By wright1 Sun May 21st 2017 at 3:21 am
@AceOfSpade: thank you, that was exactly it. Well, that and the tiresome speculation that if I felt the need to defend the ToE, it must be because I’m afraid it’ll fall apart like a house of cards when critiqued by those who can’t offer anything comparable. By that logic, anytime anyone defends something important to them it’s because they actually doubt it.

@AceOfSpade @wright1 Did you guys forget about God, If the Theory of Evolution is not true. Then there must be some form of creator #BasicLogic
By AceOfSpade Sun May 21st 2017 at 12:29 pm
@Gianluca Burdon, sigh… you should listen to your church sometimes. They’ve already said that the theory of evolution and the idea of creation by God do not contradict each other. To quote the Pope “God created beings and allowed them to develop according to the internal laws that he gave to each one, so that they were able to develop and to arrive and their fullness of being. He gave autonomy to the beings of the universe at the same time at which he assured them of his continuous presence, giving being to every reality. And so creation continued for centuries and centuries, millennia and millennia, until it became which we know today, precisely because God is not a demiurge or a magician, but the creator who gives being to all things… The Big Bang, which nowadays is posited as the origin of the world, does not contradict the divine act of creating, but rather requires it. The evolution of nature does not contrast with the notion of creation, as evolution presupposes the creation of beings that evolve.”

Okay, dropping my reply here to referee this thing. Time to call it, folks. I’m actually really impressed this stayed so civil – I’ve got a classy fanbase – but it’s an argument going nowhere fast.
Just let me have my admittedly cheesy puns. It doesn’t need to get so heavy.
By AceOfSpade Sun May 21st 2017 at 10:39 pm
Ay Ay captain. You’re right, it’s a good things things stayed civil but ultimately neither party is going to convince the other. So guys, let us agree to disagree and quit while this is still a civil conversation.

“We just had some weird computer virus thinking so our computers are rebooting. Once they are back online I can show you how I did this I’ve been very hard at work perfecting the process” “actually, you were playing galaga for an hour and a half. You actually sobbed when we had to reboot” “I’D COME SO FAR!”
