I tried something new this week. The first two panels were created using Sketch Club. Those panels were created entirely with vector art. The second two panels were made in Artstudio, my usual art program. However, I worked with a smaller canvas. The whole idea was to cut down on distortion from reducing the art. The vector art looks alright, but it takes a lot longer to create the art this way. I can’t see myself doing that on a regular basis. Plus, that lineart just looks a little lifeless.

I see what you mean about the difference. I guess it’s because there’s no variance in line weight on those two panels. No tapering pressures.
Meat… LOL Here let me bring the bomb to you…. 😛

I kinda like the Vector panels a better, it looks cleaner. By comparison, the bottom two look more “fuzzy.” But it’s not the end of the world, if it takes too long to accomplish using vectors.

And that’s what drives me nuts.

Just go with what works for you 🙂 We’re due to the great story, not the great art

In the long run you may be able to gain some time with the vectors by using already drawn elements but even then I’m guessing it would still take longer than other methods…
Still, the two last panels may look a bit fuzzy, but it fits with the style I think? The only place that makes me go “Uh that’s a little strange” is Anna’s hair. It looks “flat” compared to the rest of the picture. But maybe it’s just me.

The lines are all the same in width in the top two, which makes it look kind of bland. In the bottom two, the lines change thickness as you go along them, which I like, which fits the theme IMO (e.x. the curvy part of meat’s left (our left) pocket.)

These guys were sloppier than they at first appeared. That’s a LOT of people they left behind to strike back.

That’s what the bomb is supposed to deal with I assume.

Yeah, because time bombs always work so well.

In fiction, you should be able to notice that time bombs always work for protagonists.
Well, there are some exceptions, such as when a major part of the plot is that the protagonists lose something important, then an antagonist’s time bomb will work.
So, if the protagonist needs to use a time bomb to destroy something or distract someone, it’ll go off without a hitch. When the protagonist needs to defuse or otherwise dispose of a time bomb, they’ll manage it with a few seconds to spare.
It’s just a part of the “protagonist wins in the end” thing that most stories do.

You know, now that I think of it, I’m a little impressed that they didn’t take any casualties from one or two of Trapmaster’s little offerings. @_@

1) They were on the previous base 2) They were uninstalled

Get Manga Studio 5, its only $35-$50. You can do your art on vector layers but it still looks nice and hand drawn. I did some band art on it and using the vector layers was able to size the art at any size needed (button, t-shirt and CD cover) without losing any quality.
Here’s the piece that got used for the multiple formats:

And here’s the album cover just for fun:

I read scores of online novels and comics, on top of countless physical books. and I rarely leave comments anywhere. but I felt I just had to say, Meat has become one of my top 5 favorite characters EVER!
he is not the deepest character out there. However, he just has that certain charm that some rare characters have that just draws you in and leaves you wanting more. its been years since I saw a character that made me feel like that!
So thank you and keep up the awesome work!

Have to agree, Meat is just awesome, just one of the most fun characters.

Perhaps this is all part of an elaborate entrance exam for Kaley?

I love how they just went and left Meat behind. Because if you capture Meat, you have to deal with a captured Meat, who will be none too happy with you when he wakes up.
…The end result is you just leave Meat way the hell alone.
