He just doesn’t know how to haggle. He should have come back with “So, then $40,000?” Then she would make a giant flaming hand. “$25,000?” To which she would have seared off his mustache and/or beard. And then I’m sure they would have agreed on about 12.5.

We have portable screens we can plug headphones into. Everybody can watch what they want. If she’s into sappy love stories and human complexity, I’m pretty sure she can handle “We don’t watch ALL the same shows.”
Also, as a living furnace, I’m pretty sure she can make money very easily. I mean, “can incinerate all the evidence” is worth a bit. But also “cheap recycling/smelting” could be good… if she goes that high. Wildfire control would also be good, even if she’s not *earning* the hazard pay through risk, she’d be more than earning it through doing the work of many firefighters.

Exactly. She’s proven far more adaptable than her brother. Not only could she make a lot of money with her abililities, but she is more than capable without them. With all of the people cussing at her, and blaming her for their mistakes, constantly through the Siri app, she would had to have learned some patience and reasonability.

It is possible he was hoping for this counter offer, and the $50,000 was just to get rid of suspicions, and the amulet does more than advertised.

Age doesn’t always correlate to wisdom, though. Someone thousands of years old might just be really set in their ways, especially if they have power that lets them get their way. Not saying this is necessarily true in her case, just that it could be.
