Well… At least a new friendship was formed

Wait… Eve is in a world with Super Heroes (and Super Villains obviously) and she’s friends with a Psychic Lawyer that’s dating a Demon, but she didn’t believe the that there was Time Traveling Super Genius? 😛

Well, there’s a Bible in practically every home on Earth and yet people believe it says stuff like:
– War is the 1st Horseman
– Cherubs are winged babies
– There’s more than 1 Arch-Angel
– Satan and his Demons reside in Hell
– Satan is equal to God or was an Arch-Angel
– Jehovah’s name is God or Lord
– Jesus is God
– God put a star over Jesus on his day of birth
– There were ‘three’ Wise Men and they visited Jesus on his day of birth
– There was only one Judas in Jesus’s Apostles
– There is an Afterlife
– The Ark was a boat
– The Apostle Peter was the 1st Pope

Point is people will always believe or disbelieve in things even if there an easy to reach source or glaring evidence to say otherwise

Might have just been easier to point out how many times someone embellishes a potential blind date in order to convince the other person for the blind date into accepting. Think of your typical sitcom, where something like “works in a different time zone” would somehow become “time traveler”. XP
I’ll need to look up some of the examples you gave about what the Bible says. Most of them are accurate… er… inaccurate? Such as Conquest is the first horseman of the apocalypse, not War. No number is specified for the magi, nor is the exact time of their arrival. I think. Going off the top of my head and with subjects like these, I am hesitant to commit without re-reviewing the text myself. I was under the impression that at least some of these were indeed implied, if not outright stated. Of course, how Scripture ought to be understood – even by those claiming to take the exact same approach – is often a contentious subject.

“Practically every home on earth”? That is an awfully large margin you are keeping with that “practically”. 🙂

– Cherubs are winged babies
four Winged lions with heads of lion, human, ox and eagle, according to Ezekiel
– Jehovah’s name is God or Lord
No.
– Jesus is God
No, Jesus is the son. He makes it very clear that he is distinct from the father. Also his name translates to JHWH helps.
– God put a star over Jesus on his day of birth
No, but when the magi reached him.
– There were ‘three’ Wise Men and they visited Jesus on his day of birth
The number of magi is not mentioned, but the (number of) gifts.
– There was only one Judas in Jesus’s Apostles
Peter claimed three times to not know Jesus
– There is an Afterlife
If it’s wrong, nobody will come back and complain
– The Ark was a boat
It floats on water.
– The Apostle Peter was the 1st Pope
No, Bishop

@7eggert: The point was that they were incorrect….
By Gianluca Burdon Sat Nov 17th 2018 at 6:13 am
I meant that there was a second guy named ‘Judas’ amongst Jesus’s apostles, though he was also called Thaddeus

Also a Barrel floats, but it is not a boat. The Ark wasn’t any sort of boat, it was more like a large box or a crate

And Peter, while a well known Apostle, never held a formal title

@Gianluca-Burden If you put links directly to the Scripture passages, you can let God’s Word work just as He intends instead of including particular denominational interpretations that may be faulty or mistaken.

To add to @7eggert’s responses:
(1)
– War is the 1st Horseman
The first horse is white; its rider has a bow, gets a crown, and goes out as a conqueror.
The second horse is red; its rider gets a sword and takes peace from the earth so people will kill each other.
The third horse is black; its rider has a balance scale, and has skyrocketing food prices (famine?).
The fourth horse is pale (sickly?); its rider has the name “Death.”
Together they have power to kill 25% of humanity.
– There’s more than 1 Arch-Angel
Michael is the only one named, though there is another mention of one,
– Satan and his Demons reside in Hell
That’s where they will ultimately end up, being punished for eternity.
– Satan is equal to God or was an Arch-Angel
He is subordinate to God, and if anything, might be the opposite of Michael. We don’t know his original state or office, but he can still appear as an angel of light, and he is a very skilled deceiver.

– Jehovah’s name is God or Lord
His name as presented in Hebrew and transliterated into English is YHWH, which translates as “(the) Self-Existent (One)” and the Jews added the vowels of “Adonai” (lord/ruler) to be able to pronounce the tetragrammaton as “YaHoWaH” or transcribed into English: “Jehovah.” As the Creator and Sustainer of all existence, He naturally would have the title “God” and have authority over it all as “Lord.”
– Jesus is God
Jesus does state directly that He is the “I AM” (YHWH) of Abraham to Jews who could not have (and did not) understood his statement any other way. He forgave sins as being the chief party concerned in all sin-offenses. (How arrogant if He was not actually God!) He also claimed the glory that He had with the Father before the Creation, and which God said He never shares with anyone else.
– God put a star over Jesus on his day of birth
It is unknown exactly what was seen, but the wise men claimed to have seen a star in a certain position, so it may have been a unique or extremely rare conjunction of astronomical bodies that “pointed” to Bethlehem, if it wasn’t a miraculous event. And it was sometime within two years of Jesus’ birth.
– There was only one Judas in Jesus’s Apostles
Judas Iscariot is the one most people recognize; Thaddeus, a.k.a. Judas or Jude, was another. There was also a Judas/Judah/Jude who was (half-)brother to James and Jesus and author of the general epistle bearing his name.
– There is an Afterlife
Jesus warned quite often about Hell, He had a lot to say about Heaven and heavenly things, and He promised the repentant thief crucified next to Him, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
– The Apostle Peter was the 1st Pope
The only “offices” given for the church were “overseers/watchers [as shepherds]” and “servants” (as translated from the original language), which were concerned with teaching and preserving the right doctrines and with caring for the physical needs of the believers, respectively. The qualifications to be an “apostle” evidently included having seen the resurrected Jesus and having led people to Him.

Even if every Christian on Earth owned at least one bible (and they don’t) that’s still only about 30% of the world.
By Hinoron Thu Oct 24th 2019 at 1:57 am
Also, why are people even arguing about the specific details of the world’s most repeatedly re-written book in human history, that has more than 40 different versions in print, just in the present, just in English?
This is why there’s more than 33,000 different Christian denominations in the world; If I asked you if water was wet, you’d give me 7 different answers. >_>
(I almost said “if the world was round” but some people are actually, sincerely, still arguing against THAT, now, in 2019… which frankly just further proves my point. >_> )

Wait, you threw up on THE Space Mountain?!
By Mujaki Sat Nov 17th 2018 at 8:13 am
What do you mean, THE Space Mountain? I ask, “Which one?” (In order of construction) Orlando, Anaheim, Tokyo, Paris, or Hong Kong?
