So…I’m sure some of you might be wondering why this reboot came out over a year after I first teased it on April 1st, 2025.
Well, a lot has happened. I originally planned for an early 2026 launch, and had spent plenty of time working on stories, updated character designs for this time jump, and planning the continuity for everything that happened in the time gap.
But in February, my grandmother got sick and passed away shortly after. In April, my cousin suddenly and very unexpectedly passed away. In June, my position at work was eliminated, and I was unemployed. I actually found a new job this past week.
Suffice to say, 2026 has been a very rough year, and things were delayed. But the launch has finally arrived, and things are starting to feel nice again.
For those who read my other comic, Huzzah!, you might be wondering what will happen to that strip now that Supervillainous is back. Well, the comic may be over, at least in that form, but it’s not done for good. In fact, I’ve started laying groundwork for turning it into a novel. If life stabilizes and goes well enough, there may be a book on the way!

That past tense makes me sad. I am currently re-reading the older strips (started last night and stayed up WAY too late) and have smiled and laughed out loud as I go. Can’t wait to see where this next chapter goes.

And now, I’ve finished re-reading the past and am left wondering who will return, who gets some textual update….

Hey Zap, condolences for your losses. I commiserate. My father passed in February and it’s been nothing but stress since, so I completely understand the need to re-prioritize!
I too started to reread the early strips, because it’s been a hot minute! They have held up exceedingly well and are still funny!
Good to have you back, will look forward to a Huzzah novel, and of course many more Supervillainous strips! (I am hoping that the “wish dad could be here” is a red herring and it’s not what it implies… Will wait and see.)

So either Claw’s dead, or I’m picturing a gag like what Phineas and Ferb did for their time skip episode:
“He’s in a better place now.”
“Yeah… Ah what the heck, I’m gonna call him!”
*Ring ring ring*
“Claw.”
“How’ve you been, Dad?
“Anna! I’m great, Bora Bora really is a better place!”
