Hah, well, the tech guy should be forgiven. Smash and grabs aren’t his department. And yet another generally beneficial market to wreck havoc upon, although I would probably advise replicating spare parts for the replicator machine first. Claw needs a few spares at the very least, it is one heck of a point of failure.
By that_jedi_girl Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 3:16 am
So villainous, it’s heroic? Or at least (faintly) Robin Hood-esque.
By Gianluca Burdon Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 3:29 am
I think this comic tells the story of how Claw went from Villain to Hero
By that_jedi_girl Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 3:53 am
I don’t think Claw will ever be a “hero” (a la Superman or Luke Skywalker). BUT I think (rightly? wrongly?) that he’s got a moral code. (I believe…) He wouldn’t rob/destroy the sweet little old lady eking out an existence in a cottage on a meager pension with three cats. However, the jerk neighbor whose kids are encouraged to take potshots at the cats with their BB Guns….probably wouldn’t fare as well. And if it turned out that the two houses sat above a rich vein of felinatium (an incredibly rare and valuable resource), I think the little old lady would end up ahead of the game (although, obviously, not as much as Claw). Especially if she made incredible scones and cookies. 🙂
By Otaku Wed Aug 9th 2017 at 1:09 pm
Only if Claw ever really thinks about her (the hypothetical little old lady). Claw takes what he wants; if he thinks about it, he’ll try not to hurt anyone too bad. He often has tunnel vision, though, and even if he didn’t, most of us are just really bad at seeing how things are connected. Sometimes, even after someone has laid it out in a clear manner, we won’t see the forest for the trees because it means admitting we have a wrong way of thinking. XP We are seeing Claw’s character evolve as the story unfolds, as we should, and he seems to be becoming less “villainous” as time goes on due to more back story and him tempering his actions more and more. At the very least, I think he’s squarely in anti-villain territory now.
By CTNC Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 3:58 am
Until now I thought he was already pretty much on the heroic side. That said, he’s probably still the most heroic villain.
By that_jedi_girl Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 4:04 am
At minimum he’s more honest/upfront than the heroes. 🙂
By Towering Barbarian Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 6:30 am
I think that’s taking it a little *too* far since the heroes of this world have seemed a mostly honest and upfront bunch to me even after you factor in Dr. Dynamo’s ethically dubious cloning of Ultimo. @_@

I’ve a feeling that up until this moment a lot of Claw’s henchmen had thought he had completely reformed as well. Which would explain his “Has EVERYBODY forgotten what business we’re in?” remark.
By Towering Barbarian Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 6:52 am
That would be an interesting story and for all I know you might be correct although my original thought was that Zappit was working with the question of how somebody like a Mafia boss or a Yakuza/Triad boss could be an outstanding villain while still being a devoted family man. But one thing that would have to be dealt with if your theory is correct is what motivated Claw to be a villain and why staying a villain when he has now has the option to leave the business is so important to him for we have seen him do some pretty gratuitously evil things with others being hinted at offstage. @_@

Gold will never be worthless. People would just use it more. Y’know why? ‘Cause gold is AWESOME. And that goes DOUBLE for platinum. That stuff is badass. If gold were plentiful, it would take copper’s place in everything from electronics to craft jewelry.
By Towering Barbarian Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 6:34 am
Well, he did say *almost* worthless which I suppose could be interpreted as “now yields less money then the electricity needed to get it costs.”. If Claw were in a position to wait things out he could probably just wait until the current glut on the market is used up and then just whomp up some more. ^_^
By Poetically Psychotic Fri Jan 19th 2018 at 12:44 pm
Plus gold is heavy. Prescription drugs are much easier on the minions’ backs.
By 7eggert Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 8:16 pm
The Aztec/Maya/Inka/Idonntcaretoremember considered gold to be a shiny glittering worthless metal. Abundant and useless for practical purposes. I guess the conquistadors could have traded one iron for ten gold.
By JuaSaysHi Tue Aug 8th 2017 at 2:15 am
Worthless but oh, so handy. Like art supplies. Compare plastic are nowadays: not precious, but not free; and SO useful for making accessories, you’ve just gotta have lots if you’re making something fancy from scratch. And yeah, worthless to Claw, I mean, selling art supplies is just… cheap commerce. For expensive commerce, illicit drugs, duh!
By Otaku Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 12:56 pm
This definitely feels like a Claw kind of plan… but I hope our esteemed author will remember that Claw is not particular about collateral damage. If gold really has been devalued to the point it isn’t worth duplicating more (or duplicating an assortment of other precious metals and gems), think of what it likely did to the livings and/or retirement savings of many a normal person. In this case, duplicating prescription meds sounds good because hey, people need them but can’t afford them… but there is a reason medications are expensive and it is not just because pharmaceutical companies are greedy. Even if the actual pill doesn’t cost much to manufacture, it takes research and development to discover medications, it takes going through a lot of government red tape to get them approved, it takes insurance or strategic cash reserves to buffer your company against the eventual mishap, etc. Oh, ya know what would be perfect? Claw does this, the pharmaceutical industry basically collapses, but then The Future steps in to fix things, claiming they are developing new medications and treatments simply for the good of humanity. XP
By MechianRed Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 7:15 pm
You do realize that USA pharmacy companies overprice their medications compared to the rest of the world? All the reasons you listed for how expensive they are is bogus.
By Towering Barbarian Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 9:48 pm
If you think that medical R&D is all that low cost then feel free to set up your own lab and show the rest of us how it’s done. ^_^
By Otaku Wed Aug 9th 2017 at 12:17 am
You mean the rest of the world that often involves poorer nations, which the “greedy corporations” have intentionally cut a discount? Or the nations that just don’t require as high of standards on their medications (lowering production costs)? How about a nation like Canada that basically told the pharmaceutical companies “You will accept this much for your medications, or we’re just going to void any patents we have to produce them ourselves and then sell them to the U.S.A.?” Yes, medicines are more expensive in the United States of America, and there are many besides “Greedy evil corporations hate you!” Again, I’m not offering blanket absolution here; you’ll find ones that do some real shady, but as I would like to see prices go down, it requires real solutions that don’t make things worse in the end. -_-
By MiskisM Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 7:39 pm
Yes, there is drugs which are needed by few, like hundreds or thousands, you can say that it isnt worth producing for low costs. But when tens of millions need it and you use R&D excuse, that is just pathetic… Yes, I understand not selling for making value, but putting 50000% markup or more is just wrong….
By Towering Barbarian Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 9:43 pm
The ironic thing is that the person who did that one was an ardent support of Obamacare and a donor to Bernie Sanders which does make it a bit hypocritical. He’s gotten into trouble since then.

Dosnt drugs have a shelflife?
if so when will the copied drugs expire?
By Towering Barbarian Mon Aug 7th 2017 at 9:44 pm
Since they’re exact copies one would presume that their shelf life would be the same as the original used. @_@
By AceOfSpade Tue Aug 8th 2017 at 3:19 am
They can make enough money from selling the first one to buy more recently produced drugs… or you know… just rob another pharmacy when you reach the expiration date.
By Iron Ed Sun Aug 13th 2017 at 2:06 am
Actually, since they are making a duplicate of a -fresh- batch of drugs, any duplicates would be fresh regardless of when they were made.
(I’ll bet this comment came out fairly unintelligible. I blame it on my pneumonia! ;-))

Seems like the majority of Claw’s crew has really gotten into the swing of not being public enemy number one, lol. Claw is gonna have to have a company meeting to retrain everyone (but Meat) it seems.
By Sidekick Matt Wed Aug 9th 2017 at 6:39 pm
Back to remedial villain school for the lot of ’em. As it stands, I think Claw and his crew are hovering at or just above the same level of villainy as the Guardians of the Galaxy.
By Pibbles Thu Aug 10th 2017 at 3:53 am
Anyone else have the image of the henchman wearing ski mask over their regular masks?
By Ailruby Thu Aug 10th 2017 at 4:20 pm
Now I am. Lol
That is total what they would do. Or at least the idiots of the henchman group. Then they would be complaining about having trouble seeing.
By Bracey Sun Aug 13th 2017 at 7:19 am
Oh I hope to see this happy now!
By S Fri Aug 11th 2017 at 12:00 am
Why does everyone assume that you saved the world from aliens because of Heroics, not because you live there too?
By Hinoron Sat May 9th 2020 at 8:28 pm
Saline spray (or “solution”) is a deeply complicated concoction consisting of precisely two ingredients: Salt and water.
Here’s the saltshaker from the cafeteria. Your lab sink is right there. Have fun.
Also, if you were about to tell me the store-bought saline spray uses a very particular ratio of salt:water, and you’re incapable of measuring either, you’re fired from the science division.
