Ah jeez, just when C.C. is patching things up with the missus too. They haven’t introduced her to Chad and now Capt drops this duce on the Claws front step.

Hm! This may not be a bad opportunity for Claw to give heroism a try. The “infinite gold” angle means that he need never do anything villainous for the money again so I assume that’s not his motive for being a supervillain and remaining so. And he doesn’t seem the sort to be going after world domination. So based on that, and on things said by the characters in the past strips, I would guess that the reason for his becoming a supervillain and building up a hyrdra-like criminal organization was so that he’d have enough raw power to protect his family from anything and anybody? If that’s the case then having a group of superheroes in his debt may not be a bad idea as a way of making useful allies. And he could present it to his wife as evidence that he really *is* turning a new leaf. @_@

Also consider he just plain isn’t a good guy. He may love his family, but he thinks nothing of casual murder. Death of subordinates is an inconvenience. He will just never be a good person. Loving father and husband, yeah. Man who will do what is right, never.
However you are right that Claw is gonna have to play nice with the heroes to pull this one out of the frying pan. But I suspect his approach is gonna be villainish through and through.

I bet in the forthcoming battle, Claw’s bunker full of gold gets destroyed.
