Wow, if this wasn’t a Superhero Universe I’d say that it’s amazing to find out someone from Ancient Mythology is real

Yeah, it’s the Thor problem. Myth Thor vs Marvel Thor. The former is not impressive with the latter around. And the latter is not as impressive next to the freaking Hulk. Which… is a hell of a perspective.
Also, general smiting with lightning got a bit less impressive when you can build a faraday cage before blaspheming whatever god you like. (Maybe don’t piss off the pestilence ones tho.)
By Inbetweenaction Sat Oct 7th 2017 at 12:52 pm
i disagree, i think myth Thor is way more impressive than marvel thor. but yea, the gods of pestilence play a slow game….

In the ’70s they filled several issues simply by retelling stories from the Eddas with the Marvel Thor and Loki, such as their encounter with Skrymir. They also spent 2-3 issues retelling a sanitized version of the story of Sigurd, with Thor as Sigurd, for some reason.

Sure, Si’ri. We believe you. Honest. ^_^

So I am missing a step here, how are they coercing her into answering their questions instead of just maiming them? It sure looks like they have her trapped and she is answering against her will, but I don’t remember anything that would let them do that.

I think she likes the seat of power Claw made for himself, and actually respects the guy enough to play ball with his kids while waiting for her plans to be ready to act upon. (She has played with his kids, fun was had.)
Even if Claw did soul bond her “idiot brother,” I think she ran out of the protection that sharing a name with Siri afforded her from superheroes and gambled that Claw was a good cover to hide behind/within.
By Miyto Fri Oct 6th 2017 at 5:52 am
oops, forgot to mention:
if she doesn’t do diplomacy here, she stands to both lose that protection and be soul bonded to a human, a human that was considering sending her idiot brother to a hell-plane for trying to get out of a soul bond.
I doubt she wants to go to hell.

My own thoughts on the matter are simple: The Claw has invested *heavily* in anti-demon security, meaning is isn’t sensible for Si’ri to go on a rampage. However, they know she knows they know. And she knows they know she knows. Which might cause a situation that’s no-no.

I have to say, I am genuinely impressed. A masterly recovery for canon. There are people out there, reading the archives and skipping the comments, who will be unsure for years to come if you made a continuity guff or not. Even I’m not sure…

A few things to consider.
She has been around for thousands of years and has never conquered nor enslaved the world.
If anything she has kept a low profile and just had a bit of malicious fun here and there.
Her brother conversely wants to conquer enslave and destroy everything. Basically break all the toys.
So two possible thoughts. She was part of what trapped her brother in the first place and she does not want him to know. So faking the soul bond shuts him up and lets her continue to play.
Or, Claw’s belt is part of a three piece set. Claw has the belt and it seems to be more powerful than he realizes sometimes. Gul’Jagen was sealed in the helmet. Which I think is hidden by the flames of his head. Si’ri is always wearing a breast plate. . . I think she is bound to it and does not want claw to know. Possibly since he might be able to wear all three safely because he controls the belt.

That’s actually a good theory. Which Zappit can’t use now. Copyrights see? That’s why I never speculate if I think I’m right. In the interests of this comic, I ask you to formally allow Zapit t use this one… IF he formally planned it. 😀
By Targ Collective Fri Oct 6th 2017 at 2:42 pm
Well, my post above is proof to the contrary I suppose. But there I’m piecing together an interpretation of existing canon, already published. That’s different…
By Towering Barbarian Fri Oct 6th 2017 at 7:02 pm
Actually,…No, I don’t see. Copyright law might be less formal then it used to be when last I looked but I don’t think it’s gotten so informal that the mere act of speculating out loud about what’s going to happen next is all that it takes to copyright the idea that’s being speculated on. Such speculation has been the traditional sport at the Megatokyo Forums without slowing down the posting of Megatokyo episodes at all and there have been occasions when forumites have had bragging rights over having predicted something correctly. I’m not going to say you’re wrong just yet, in a rational world DC and Marvel would never have gotten away with trademarking the word “superhero” so that game companies couldn’t use that word when publishing superhero games so anything’s possible, but I would like to know upon what basis you’re saying that if only to improve my own understanding. @_@

Honestly? Terry Pratchett was recorded as saying that very issue was why he couldn’t read Discworld fanfiction. (Mind you it’s rare fanfiction that could capture Pratchett’s genius.)
I admit that’s not a huge basis for, for example, the webcomic industry. And the Pratchett books are huge. I’m just not sure how the law treats that, so I’m careful.
By Towering Barbarian Sat Oct 7th 2017 at 1:36 am
OK, I know what you’re talking about. I seem to recall that Mercedes Lackey had to withdraw permission to write fanfics in her universe after some idiot sued her for plagiarizing her fanfic (Irony abounds!). But comments on a message board aren’t fanfic and you really do have to write a story and file for copyright before you have a basis on which to sue.
By Kaian Sun Oct 8th 2017 at 11:23 pm
Really?
Pardon me I need to go punch something. The Valedmar series is one of my favourites. What is with people trying to ruin good things?
By Kaian Sun Oct 8th 2017 at 11:21 pm
You have got to be kidding. I just love speculating on plot relevance. Guessing the plot is half the fun of a serial. Also I can hardly say a plot outline would be plagarisable. If that is even a word. Also too poor to sue anyone. 😉
If it is true.
But further speculation is if my second thought was right. Then it is the costume change future Kaley mentioned. Which is also cool because it shows how planned and intertwined the story has been.
By Siva Sat Oct 7th 2017 at 9:51 am
If any speculation of mine in comments on this or any other webcomic lead to either the webcomic writer liking my idea and incorporating it, or else me having guessed what they planned all along, I will be excitedly happy.
Any and all “dues” in case of it being the former vs. the latter, I will consider paid in full. Literal entertainment value. (I will just want to know which it was.)
By Kan Sat Oct 7th 2017 at 11:46 am
I don’t want to be a party pooper but Circe would be actually pronounced Kirke in Greek… (and many other languages including my mother tongue, which is why it gave me a pause)
Ooor maybe she just changes her spelling and pronunciation depending on country, century and her own mood 😀

Why do Si’Rious?!

Why so Si’Rious?!
